I was the first out so I opted for the floaty waveboard as it looked a little gusty. Tacked (or rather fell in and turned round as I was sailing like a muppet today) up to the waves and was a tad powered up so I pulled into the upwind beach to crank on more downhaul. This was followed by the first long swim of the day.

The problem with the upwind beach is that it is nicely sheltered by a headland and has a fairly hefty shore dump necessitating slick timing on the launch and wading out neck deep to try and catch a gust. It took 15 minutes of wallowing before I got up this time.

Had a few good runs with fast gybes and big port tack jumps but it was too much into wind to try any forwards. Saw a rain cloud coming so I decided to rest on the upwind beach - big mistake. I got stuck there for an hour as the wind dropped to nothing which was odd as the forecast was for it to increase. Eventually saw someone else planing so I launched and spent half an hour trying to catch a gust to get out to the wind line. after much swimming and many false starts I got up but was so knackered that I headed downwind back to the car.

Derigged just as the wind picked back up again. It was good while it lasted but I did a lot of swimming and was probably knackered from yesterday and going running this morning. Saw a husband and wife having a major argument across the other side of the river as she'd managed to get pinned against the cliff and broken her mast and sail - made me realise that my day hadn,t been so bad after all.
